Maned Geese were the first wildfowl that we ever got and we have never looked back since. They are extremely friendly and tend to spend more time on land grazing than they do in the water. They can fly extremely well so its best to keep their wings clipped at all times.
Typical Adult is 45-51cm (18-20in).
Mainly grazes on grasses, clover, and crops. Also dabbles in shallow water for aquatic plants, and occasionally insects.
Wetlands, lakes, rivers, lightly wooded swamps, marshes, open woodland, farmland and grasslands throughout much of Australia, and Tasmania.
Usually September to November.
